CC41 Utility furniture art deco style extendable dining table made by Talent FH Marshall
CC41 furniture was made between 1941 and 1951 and was a government mandated idea to aid makers to still create furniture - but using only the materials that were available during times of ration. Gordon Russel led this movement, it meant that many simple yet well designed pieces were made.
This is one of the more elaborate pieces we have come across, with a few more frills and flourishes than the normally minimalist designs. Obviously influenced by the Art Deco period of a few decades before, it has lovely stepped legs and chunky curves.
It has two leaves that pull out from underneath the table, they add a little extra dining space and move freely.
There are obvious marks and scratches to the finish, the varnish has gone in a couple of places but the table still looks great - solid and the frame is wonderful. With some TLC it could be sanded back and made perfect.
